Shortcuts: COM:AN/B • COM:AN/P • COM:RFPP

This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

The rest are nominated for deletion as well, they seem to me as promotion of non-notable humorist, at least they all are unused, but actually nothing urgent. Hello. That edition of https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:West_Azerbaijan_Province_Ethnic_Map_Detailed.png&offset=&limit=500 is wrong and not accordant to resources. I tried to persuade User:HistoryofIran. But he did not noticed and threatened me to report! He is maintaining a factitious map by threatening other users to report!   • When you disagree with a map on Commons, it is almost always best practice to upload your own version in a separate file, rather than to overwrite someone else's map.
  • It is always best to cite all relevant sources for any map you draw, even those that there is no legal requirement to cite.
  • If you think someone else's map is actively inaccurate (rather than, for example, leaving out information you would add) you can always use {{Fact disputed}} or another similar template.

IP sock repeatedly removing SD template

File:Siavash Shahsavari Violinist.jpg was correctly SD-nominated due to self-promotion, but an IP user, most likely the uploader, keeps removing the SD template in an attempt to prevent the deletion. The same thing also happened on File:Siavash Shahsavari.jpg (which had been uploaded and deleted many times before) with two template removals that had to be reverted before it got deleted. –JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 04:29, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
This user has provided numerous files with the tag "no source". However, all the ones I looked at had "own" as the source and were clearly marked as source={{own}}. So these are masses of incorrect deletion requests.
Some of these files have already been deleted and subsequently removed from the articles - that's how I noticed it. For instance: File:Herfried Mencke (2011).jpg was deleted by User:Krd.
The user, who has been a member since 2015, has not yet responded to questions on his discussion page. I have now left a clear message and asked him to undo his edits.
Please be careful when executing deletion requests from this user!
The user is currently submitting mass deletion requests for photos of Greek statues (I'm not an expert on this and haven't read up on it).

@Emha: Hello, I just answered regarding the cases-examples that you mentioned on my user talk page. Now, regarding the photos of Greek statues, unfortunately, Greece doesn't have FOP (Freedom of Panorama) and actually has a rather strict legislation regarding that matter. Unfortunately, however, not many people are really aware of that. Even myself, personally, I discovered this during my time over here. The only possible issue for this matter would be, most probably, a legal reform that would loosen - at least a bit - the current legal frame in place. We tried this in the past, us users of el@wiki, by sending emails to a number of political figures and deputies, in order to get their interest, however, there wasn't any real progress regarding that matter. As such, unless there is some sort of common policy within the EU regarding FOP, I don't really see, at least for the time being, how things could possibly change one way or another. 😕🤷‍♂️ 🏺ⲈⲨⲐⲨⲘⲈⲚⲎⲊ🏛️ ⲱⲑⲏⲥⲁⲧⲉ 08:38, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
